Women's Football Coaching in Bournemouth, Poole & Christchurch

Women's football is growing faster than ever!
and there's never been a better time to get involved - whether that means picking up the game for the very first time, returning to it after a break, or building on skills you already have.

My own coaching journey actually began at Wimborne Town FC Women's - and that experience shaped the way I now work with players one-to-one: with patience, encouragement and zero judgement, regardless of age, background or previous experience.

You can read more about that journey on my About page here...

Whether you're completely new to football, returning to the game after time away, or already playing for a local team and looking to develop further, my one-to-one sessions create a space where you can learn and improve at your own pace, on your own terms.

There's no pressure to already know what you're doing, no expectation to be a certain standard, and no judgement if it's been years since you last kicked a ball (or if you never have).

Every session is built around you... your goals, your confidence and your stage of the journey, helping you develop technically, tactically and mentally in an environment that feels genuinely supportive.

Sessions are available for women of all ages and abilities across Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and the surrounding areas.

Women's Football Coaching

A Sport Women Were Once Banned From Playing

It's a part of football's history that doesn't get talked about enough...

In 1921, the FA banned women's teams from playing on its members' pitches - a ban that lasted fifty years and pushed women's football to the margins for two generations.

That history doesn't disappear just because the ban was eventually lifted.

Many women grew up with no school teams, no local clubs nearby, and no female professional players to look up to, which is a very different starting point to the one most boys were given.

If you never played as a child, it almost certainly wasn't because you weren't interested... the opportunity simply wasn't there!

That matters, because it means starting now isn't "catching up" - it's just starting (on far more level ground than the game has ever offered before).

Did you know?

Women's football was banned from FA-affiliated grounds for 50 years, from 1921 to 1971.

It took until the Lionesses' UEFA Euro 2022 win for participation numbers to finally begin reflecting how much appetite for the game had been there all along!

The Hardships That Often Go Unspoken

Starting (or restarting) football as an adult can feel far more daunting than people expect, particularly if you're worried about fitness, ability, or simply not knowing the basics that others seem to take for granted.

That's exactly why every session is designed to feel calm, encouraging and completely free of judgement from the very first minute - there's no shouting, no comparison, and no assumption that you should already know how to do something.

Communication is always clear and patient, mistakes are treated as a normal part of learning rather than something to feel embarrassed about, and the focus stays firmly on your enjoyment and progress rather than perfection.

Sessions take place at a location that suits you across Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch, which helps players settle in quickly, build trust, and start to feel more confident with the ball - often sooner than they expected!

Why One-to-One Coaching Changes the Equation

There's no team to keep up with, no one else's pace to match, and nobody watching while you figure something out for the first time.

Sessions happen away from an audience, which means the things that usually hold people back, fear of mistakes, fitness worries, self-consciousness about ability, simply aren't relevant here.

You're free to ask a question you'd never ask in a group, repeat something five times if you need to, or stop and catch your breath without anyone clocking it.

This is coaching built around removing friction rather than adding pressure - because confidence almost always has to come before performance, not after it.

Your Starting Point - Your Pace...

Never played before?

Sessions start from first principles - first touch, basic movement, understanding the game - at a pace that never assumes prior knowledge.

Returning after a break?

Whether that's years out of the game, a career change, or coming back after having children, sessions focus on rebuilding fitness and touch gradually, with no pressure to be "back where you were."

Already playing for a team?

One-to-one time gives you space to work on something specific - a weaker foot, decision-making under pressure, confidence in possession - that's genuinely hard to isolate during normal team training.

Playing at an academy or higher level?

Sessions transition from foundational skills to marginal gains.

We focus on elite details - scanning frequency, body orientation before receiving, playing through lines, and tactical intelligence (to give you the edge required at the highest level).

Bridging the Gap: Training vs. Match Day

It’s one thing to look sharp in a structured drill with no opposition, but it’s entirely another to deliver when the game is frantic, the physical pressure is on, and the clock is ticking.

A common frustration for many players is the "disconnect"... feeling incredibly capable during low-pressure practice, only for that confidence and technical execution to drop the second they step into a competitive match (this usually isn't a lack of ability; it’s a lack of situational comfort).

These sessions are specifically engineered to solve that exact problem... We don't just practice skills in a vacuum; we contextualize them.

By introducing game-realistic constraints, simulating tight spaces, and forcing split-second decision-making, we replicate the specific chaos of a live match.

You will learn how to mentally "slow the game down," manage match-day anxiety, and read triggers on the pitch before they happen.

This deeper level of detail ensures that your mechanics become second nature, allowing you to seamlessly transfer your skills from the training environment straight into your weekend games, performing with total composure when it matters most.

Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve had previous coaches who were overly critical or intense...

What is your coaching style?

The approach here is calm, encouraging, and focused on positive reinforcement (the exact opposite of a high-stress environment).

If you've ever felt discouraged in a team setting, these sessions are designed to rebuild your confidence, celebrate small wins, and ensure you leave every session feeling great about your progress.

Can I bring someone with me for support/observation?

Of course!

It is completely normal to feel a bit nervous or uncomfortable  before your first session.

You are more than welcome to bring a friend, teammate, or partner to sit on the sidelines and watch the session so you feel completely comfortable and at ease.

Will I be training next to men's or boys' teams?

Not usually... we prioritize finding training spaces where you can focus fully without distraction.

When scheduling your sessions, we select times and local venues that offer a comfortable, professional, and private environment so you can train with total peace of mind.

I’m a defender/midfielder/

forward etc.

Can we train for my exact role?

Definitely.

We don't just do generic football drills... If you are a center-back, we will work on body positioning and clearing lines.

If you are a winger, we will focus on 1v1 crossing and driving into space.

If you are a striker, we'll focus on penetrating through defence and pulling your shot off etc.

Every drill is put into the exact context of the position you play on the weekend.
